VTEX scores medals in all 24 categories for the 2023 Paradigm B2B Combine: Enterprise and Midmarket Editions
Ecommerce analyst firm Paradigm B2B has released its yearly B2B Combine report, which grades ecommerce providers across the key areas of interest for the B2B technology buyer. For 2023, VTEX was awarded medals in each one of the 12 categories that Paradigm assesses for the Enterprise Edition.
The “what”
Overall VTEX was awarded eight gold medals, eight silver medals, and eight bronze medals in the 2023 version of both B2B reports, getting two more gold medals than the previous year and improving its score in 13 different criteria.
According to Paradigm, a gold medal means an ecommerce platform is an “exceptional vendor”, a silver medal recognizes a “superior vendor” and a bronze medal is awarded to a “differentiated vendor”. VTEX was awarded as follows:
Enterprise
- 4 Gold medals in Customer Service & Support; Integrations, Operations & Infrastructure; Marketplaces and Promotions Management.
- 5 Silver medals in Ability to Execute, Partner Ecosystem, Total Cost of Ownership, Vision & Strategy and Site Search.
- 3 Bronze medals in Content & Data Management, Sales & Channel Enablement, and Transaction Management.
Midmarket
- 4 Gold medals in Customer Service & Support, Integrations, Operations & Infrastructure, Marketplaces and Promotions Management.
- 3 Silver medals in Ability to Execute, Total Cost of Ownership, and Site Search.
- 5 Bronze medals in Partner Ecosystem, Vision & Strategy, Content & Data Management, Sales & Channel Enablement, and Transaction Management.
VTEX was the only vendor in both the Midmarket and the Enterprise Editions to be awarded a gold medal for Marketplace capabilities: the functionality that makes it possible for buyers to purchase a seller’s products or services via that seller’s owned or operated marketplace as well as on horizontal and vertical marketplaces.
The “why”
Paradigm selected eight vendors to be included in the 2023 Enterprise Combine, and they were all graded on a scale of one to five across 38 detailed and weighted criteria. Paradigm also gave special importance to “voice of the customer” feedback gathered by conducting interviews with customers from each vendor.
The Combine described VTEX’s offering as “particularly well-suited for enterprise B2B companies looking for a modularized ecommerce, OMS, and marketplace solution that possesses strong promotions capability offered in a flexible, multitenant SaaS environment”.
The report also revealed that VTEX’s customers spoke highly of the company’s integrated solution, as well as its low cost of ownership. Among VTEX’s strengths, Paradigm also mentioned impressive customer service and out-of-the-box marketplace functionality, a strong Order Management System, strong promotions functionality, and modern multitenant architecture.
The “who”
This is the fifth year in a row that Paradigm has published its B2B Combine. Its criteria were established by Andy Hoar, one of the world’s leading authorities on B2B ecommerce business and strategy, and a former vice president and principal analyst at Forrester Research.
According to Paradigm, the objective of the Combine is to simplify the decision-making dynamic for ecommerce platform technologies, recognizing that there is no single solution that addresses all of the needs of technology buyers.

Overall VTEX was awarded eight gold medals, eight silver medals, and eight bronze medals in the 2023 version of both B2B reports, getting two more gold medals than the previous year and improving its score in 13 different criteria.
According to Paradigm, a gold medal means an ecommerce platform is an “exceptional vendor”. On the Enterprise Edition, VTEX was awarded four gold medals: one for a Strategic Pillar –Customer Service & Support– and three for Product Capabilities –Integrations, Operations & Infrastructure; Marketplaces; and Promotion Management. The exact same medals were awarded for the Midmarket Edition.
For the Enterprise Edition, VTEX scored silver medals, awarded to vendors that prove to be “superior”, in four Strategic Pillars –Ability to Execute, Partner Ecosystem, Total Cost of Ownership, and Vision & Strategy– as well as one Product Capability –Site Search–. Ability to Execute, Total Cost of Ownership and Site Search were also awarded for the Midmarket Edition.
Finally, VTEX proved to be a “differentiated vendor” and was awarded bronze medals for three Product Capabilities in the Enterprise Edition –Content & Data Management; Sales & Channel Enablement; and Transaction Management—. For the Midmarket Edition, the bronze medals included these three categories plus Partner Ecosystem and Vision & Strategy.

“The goal is to put the ecommerce platform vendors through the paces so that buyers can make well-informed decisions without having to spend months of time executing their own research.”
