Free your business from the monolithic commerce platform – it may not be as hard as you think

Free your business from the monolithic commerce platform – it may not be as hard as you think

It’s a fact that in software, and particularly in ecommerce software, if a provider fails to invest in the platform – or invests in the wrong areas – that platform is likely to struggle to keep up. Ecommerce is dynamic enough that new demands and expectations are showing up almost daily – or at least so it seems.

VTEX has reinvented itself multiple times over its history; we did not just show up and deliver the state of the market technology and functionality that we currently offer. It is sometimes incredibly hard to stay ahead of customer expectations, and it takes a dedication to listen carefully to customer needs. We think VTEX does this well, and build our model around the notion that ensuring customer success is paramount.

Unfortunately, there are commerce platforms out there that many companies use today that have failed to keep up with the digital-first world we now live in. Whether that failure is technology, functionality, stability (or some combination of these) – the result is a platform that is unable to support your digital business initiatives. It may not happen right away, but eventually, you are going to be frustrated.

Some commerce platforms, like HCL (WebSphere) Commerce, have changed ownership and because of all of the resulting implications, its users are facing a difficult time. I can’t imagine what it is like for a merchant to face a holiday season not actually knowing if their platform will support them.

The good news is that upgrading for many users of these legacy platforms is not as hard as they might think. And when you add in the service and support costs that most companies face with these older platforms, it’s possible to have a really fast ROI!

VTEX has heard these challenges and has taken moving to our solution to another level. We have a conversion methodology for several of the legacy platforms in the market today – whether that is HCL Commerce, Hybris, Oracle, or another, we have developed an approach that will enable rapid migration at a much lower cost than you might think. In fact, in most cases, migrating to and going live on VTEX will be less expensive and less complicated than the upgrade path with your current legacy platform and commerce vendor.

We are confident we can do this because we understand these legacy platforms. Many commerce experts on the VTEX team have come from one or more of these legacy platform vendors so we understand their data structures, extension models, and business logic and how those elements map to VTEX’s modern microservices, API, cloud, headless, and low-code platform, VTEX Commerce Cloud.

Moving to a modern, flexible, and easy to maintain commerce platform may be more within reach than you think. Make this migration your last and upgrades a thing of the past with VTEX.

Migrate from monolith legacy platforms in as little as 90 days:

HCL Commerce (formerly Websphere) to VTEX
Oracle Commerce (formerly ATG) to VTEX
SAP Commerce (formerly Hybris) to VTEX
