Inside a Visionary’s roadmap: What you can still expect from VTEX in 2020

Recently, VTEX was named a Visionary in the 2020 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Digital Commerce, and according to IDC, we are the fastest-growing ecommerce platform in the world. These accomplishments mean a lot to our team, which works tirelessly every day to better serve our more than 3,000 customers and hundreds of partners around the world, who we want to thank for being with us along this journey. 

With great acknowledgment comes great responsibility. So, as our partner or customer, you may ask yourself: 

“What can I expect from VTEX as a Visionary?”  

Part of the formula that drives VTEX is to serve the people who use our product incredibly well, understanding their needs and making sure to deliver simpler solutions to complex businesses, so that we can continue to build a great future together. 

To do this, we are listening to our customers intently, through a wide range of channels, such as Customer Support, Customer Success, and NPS – where customers assign a score from 1 to 10 to our platform and leave their feedback. These insightful comments are analyzed and serve as input to build our product roadmap. 

From a product perspective, we are very satisfied with the feedback that we are receiving, as well as with the conversations and closer relationship we are establishing with our customers. 

What about a sneak peek into our future roadmap? 

To make sure that we are investing in the right areas of our platform, we are hearing from our customers, addressing their needs, and aligning our development efforts to help them to overcome the challenges that they may face in their businesses. 

We’re driving efforts to future-proof merchants’ businesses, providing them with technology that never gets old. To make this goal a reality, we are currently working on the following: 

Building the fastest and highest converting stores 

We know that there’s a lot of pressure for stores to be reliable and fast. So our CMS, Site Editor, Catalog, and VTEX IO are areas of substantial investment.

Enabling the future of Collaborative Commerce 

The future of commerce involves more than sellers engaging with customers. It’s an entire community’s effort, including you, your partners, and suppliers, to drive conversions and meet a broad set of customer needs. 

With the rise of Collaborative Commerce, we want to support our clients that are adopting the marketplace business model in the best way possible, by delivering even more tools and the only platform with integrated order management, ecommerce, and marketplace capabilities.

In addition, the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the need for businesses to be omnichannel. Physical and digital are more connected, enabling sales to happen through any channel, and orders to be fulfilled from anywhere. 

As we continue to invest in this integrated collaborative commerce vision, you’ll see a lot of updates in the VTEX Admin (spoiler alert!).  

Enhancing our current platform

As many of our customers are having Black Friday levels of traffic almost every day of the week, we want to make sure that our platform is extremely reliable and built to handle that. 

In this sense, we’re changing internal processes and investing in technology that allows us to handle large spikes in traffic. These initiatives are already yielding good results, as seen recently in tax-free days (“Días sin IVA”) in Colombia, in which we had near-perfect reliability during traffic spikes, whereas some of our competitors didn’t. 

This is important for VTEX because we want to serve our customers better than any other commerce technology and platform provider. 

What’s next in our roadmap?

The world is changing, ecommerce sales are increasing, and the pressure is on merchants more than ever before to have stores that are functional, fast, and that provide a great user experience. 

In this context, we want to guarantee that we are following a roadmap full of relevant innovations for our customers, matching their needs, solving business challenges, and generating value, so that merchants can respond very quickly to their customers’ needs and beat their competitors.

We want our platform and technology to get merchants ahead of future trends, making sure that their stores are the fastest and highest converting, and that their experience as administrators of those stores is pleasant, powerful, and differentiated. 

We’re looking forward to delivering upon our visionary roadmap and keeping the conversation going with our customers, assuring that we are focusing on what is essential and making a positive impact in each business that relies on us.
