We are proud to announce that VTEX has been named a Visionary in the 2020 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Digital Commerce report. Gartner propelled VTEX to a visionary vendor based on our collaborative commerce and online marketplace strengths, including:
- Commerce, marketplace and order management functionality together in a single platform
- Breadth of functionally for the end-to-end management of a digital commerce business
- Extensibility and modularity with a modular microservice-based architecture that is API-first, cloud-native, and headless
The 2020 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Digital Commerce represents a new breed of technology providers and it’s clear we are witnessing a changing of the guard. Vendors with modern technology that is well suited to meet the challenges of a dynamic and fast-paced world have gained significant ground on the suite providers that have dominated the report for several years.
In 2019, the digital commerce applications market saw the acceleration of trends that began in prior years, such as the shift to cloud and SaaS, an increased focus on headless API-first solutions, and the adoption of modular or microservice-based architectures as legacy platforms like SAP, Oracle and HCL (formerly IBM WebSphere) struggle to modernize and give businesses the speed and flexibility today’s market demands.
The rise of VTEX as a MACH architecture – Microservice-based, API-first, Cloud-native, Headless architecture and commerce technology provider is confirmation of the importance our customers place on agility, flexibility, and the ability to quickly innovate. As we continue to invest in our collaborative commerce solutions and customer success teams, delivering a flexible and easy to use solution that doesn’t require upgrades is always top of our mind to ensure our customers’ business is future-proof.
“Partnering with VTEX has simplified our online ordering process and expanded our contactless pick-up and delivery, giving us the agility and flexibility to not only keep customers at the heart of everything we do, but also do it safely and effectively in unprecedented times.”

Digital business is becoming much more specialized and sellers seek to create ecommerce and digital experience ecosystems tailored for their unique requirements, versus the all-in-one suite offerings. I dare say a year from now when Gartner publishes their 2021 Magic Quadrant for Digital Commerce, the leader quadrant will look much different than it does today. As the saying goes, “today’s visionaries are tomorrow’s leaders”.
