Recognizing the need for a comprehensive digital commerce strategy, Stanley embarked on a transformative journey to redefine B2B commerce in partnership with VTEX.

The Digital Transformation Journey

The goal of developing the Stanley Tools platform for Latin America rapidly grew into a larger vision: creating a unified, self-service B2B commerce platform that would streamline processes, reduce costs, and enhance customer experiences. Stanley Black & Decker’s Global director of ecommerce and marketing technologies, Chris Teer, emphasized,

“Our goal was to create a connected commerce experience by merging our B2B and B2C sites into a single, unified platform. Partnering with VTEX allowed us to streamline processes, reduce complexity, and deliver real-time, personalized experiences for our customers.”

With VTEX’s composable commerce platform, Stanley consolidated product information, pricing, and ordering processes into a seamless, single commerce platform. This eliminated unnecessary logins and clicks and allowed for customization, such as real-time pricing and delivery estimates for logged-in customers.

Custom B2B Functionality with VTEX IO

Stanley’s solution was designed to address the unique needs of B2B buyers. The platform, built using VTEX IO, provided flexibility and personalization, including bulk order capabilities and the ability to split orders for multiple deliveries. It was tailored to support procurement teams, distributors, and users with features like scheduled orders, spreadsheet uploads, and guided selling.

With the added capability to integrate Stanley’s legacy ERP systems, the platform supported cross-border operations across Europe and North America. This level of integration was vital for managing their complex B2B requirements, offering buyers a simplified, efficient purchasing process.

Stanley Black & Decker continues to innovate. By leveraging VTEX’s robust API-driven platform, they’ve set the stage for future growth, with plans to introduce AI-assisted guided selling and an online quote-to-order experience. The result?
